You will be part of the Zoladex Innovation team, a key technical function in the largest manufacturing department at AZ’s UK Operations Macclesfield Campus. Through use of creativity, problem solving, and data analysis, you’ll discover, manage and deliver step-change improvements to ensure future patient demand for AstraZeneca’s treatment for advanced prostate cancer. As part of an agile and dynamic team of scientists and engineers, you will be empowered to think big and push the boundaries of what science can do. Accountabilities We'll ask you to deliver technical expertise and apply curious scientific thinking to identify process improvements to our complex manufacturing process. Using data analysis and statistical tools, you will support our exciting portfolio of improvement projects to increase yield, throughput, and process robustness. Working both independently and as part of project teams, you’ll efficiently manage experimental and validation studies, producing high quality protocols and reports in line with cGMP and other regulatory requirements to implement proposed process improvements. With specific areas of process responsibility, you will demonstrate process capability knowledge, project & change management, problem solving and many more skills required for working within a fast-paced pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Essential Skills/Experience - Strong technical background and an open, curious mindset with ability to apply scientific first principles to new problems - Analytical skills to develop solutions/make judgements based on data - Project Management skills, innovative in challenging ways of working and proposing alternative methods of working - Change Management skills, with ability to communicate effectively to non-technical colleagues and influence business decisions - High levels of concern for standards, attention to detail with a self-motivating and proactive approach, including understanding and application of cGMP - Experience of preparing and managing experimental protocols of work Desirable Skills/Experience - Sound working knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes - Understanding of LEAN principles & practitioner of Problem-Solving skills - Ability to understand and interpret Statistical Process Control and Capability - Six Sigma Green belt qualification - Degree in Science or Engineering - Experience of preparing and managing qualification and validation protocols of work - Experience of working within an aseptic environment and managing the challenges this brings When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines.
