Our Engineer role involves leading both team colleagues and contractors, underpinned with subject matter technical knowledge in your plant area. Based at Drax Power Station near Selby, it’s a Monday-Friday role, though at times there may be a requirement to work an odd weekend at the height of our project delivery. About the role The role takes responsibility for day-to-day people leadership and has the ownership of a plant area which includes outage engineering support, refurbishment and maintenance. You’ll be responsible for long term plant integrity, preserving the Fuel Processing and Auxiliary Plant systems, minimising costs, and above all delivering an engineering and maintenance strategy. You’ll play a key role, leading both projects and maintenance interventions that support the long term commercial and operating approach in this extensive and varied plant area. Contract management responsibilities will include detailed technical specifications of work, risk assessment and supervision of contractor work including setting of work when acting as Contract Owner/ User. Through the work management system, you’ll oversee the effective preparation and implementation of preventative, breakdown and outage defects, schedules and work packages. You’ll also deliver compliance against legislative, statutory, corporate and site policy and procedures in relation to Health, Safety and the Environment, Engineering and Quality requirements. About you You’ll need to have a minimum of an HND in an Engineering related discipline, ideally holding a Bachelor’s degree and a member of a Professional Engineering Institution. You’ll have experience delivering key Engineering projects in operational areas such as milling plant, pneumatic conveying, pumps, gas and steam systems, turbomachinery, fuel oil systems, cranes and fire systems providing technical expertise from your discipline. Specifically, you should demonstrate the ability to lead and support projects through lifecycle including justification, scoping, design, implementation and commissioning. And you’ll need to have previously managed budgets. You’ll be confident leading people and/or managing contractors and can objectively manage the performance of a team to achieve required results. Most of all, you’ll be able to respond and adapt to change with a positive attitude and a willingness to try and develop new ways of working.
