We have an opening for a Logistics Operative to join our Secure Logistics team. The primary focus of the role is to deliver goods to locations throughout mainland UK and Northern Ireland, driving light commercial vehicles up to and including 7.5 tonne. The post holder is required to deliver/collect a range of items desk side in buildings and must be able to manually handle furniture and archive crates (manual handling equipment is provided). Serco adheres to the Domestic Driver Rules UK and as a result, the post holder will be required to undertake occasional overnight stops away from their base of operations.
As well as undertaking driving duties, the post holder will be required to assist in our warehouse as and when required by the Operations Manager. This will involve the limited use of IT systems and operation of a counterbalance fork lift truck (for which training will be provided).
The team of Logistics Operatives are responsible for first line maintenance and cleaning of our small fleet of light commercial vehicles, as well as maintenance and cleaning of communal areas of the warehouse.
What you'll need to do the job
First and foremost a current, clean driving licence is required and you must have an understanding of the UK Domestic driver (UK) regulations.
Ideally, you will have at least two-year experience in a driving role and the ability to read a map is essential.
Holding a Fork lift (Counterbalance) license is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
