Job Title: Research Manager
Location: Head Office – Bingley (with off-site trial work)
Reporting To: Research Operations Manager
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:45–17:00 (1-hour lunch break)
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Job Purpose
The Research Manager is responsible for designing, delivering, and overseeing client research projects to ensure they meet objectives effectively and profitably. This role involves the dissemination of project outcomes across internal teams and wider audiences via conferences, papers, advisory materials, and articles. The Research Manager will also play a key role in identifying and developing new R&D clients, services, and market opportunities to expand the organisation’s offerings.
Working both independently and collaboratively with other Research Managers, the post-holder will manage their own team—guiding, training, and supporting team members to ensure high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Liaise directly with clients to identify and develop business opportunities.

Develop innovative research systems and delivery methods tailored to client needs.

Identify and pursue new services, sectors, and market opportunities.
*
Plan, manage, and deliver internal and external research projects.
*
Monitor and manage the financial and operational aspects of each project, ensuring timely registration, delivery, and invoicing.
*
Communicate research outcomes at seminars, conferences, and courses via presentations and practical demonstrations.

Prepare and submit research proposals and final reports for internal approval prior to client delivery.
*
Manage project-related spending within agreed budgets.
*
Define project scope and objectives with clients, delivering clear protocols and comprehensive final reports.

Lead and mentor a team of Trials Officers—training and developing staff to achieve team goals.

Take ownership of any missed tasks within the team in exceptional circumstances.
Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience:
*
A university degree in a relevant scientific discipline or substantial experience in amenity/agriculture research.
*
Proven track record in applied R&D and project management.
*
Experience in turfgrass research is highly advantageous.
*
High level of technical competency in a scientific field.
