About the role We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Systems Developer to join our Business Intelligence Unit at Wiltshire Police. Whether you’re a graduate with a degree in Maths, STEM or related field or have experience, we’re happy to train you and support your growth. As a Business Intelligence Systems Developer, you will be involved in creating innovative dashboards and applications that will empower employees across the organisation to freely explore the data they need to better understand performance and demand across key business areas. The projects are varied, requiring strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The work that you do will have a real, meaningful impact on frontline teams, helping to save them time and enabling them to make informed, data driven decisions. You will have a keen eye for designing attractive and intuitive dashboards and user interfaces, the confidence to present your products to non-technical audiences at varying levels of seniority and the ability to utilise your diverse communication style to best accommodate your audiences’ requirements. The role regularly involves teamwork and engagement with stakeholders, so you will be someone who enjoys working collaboratively with others and is willing and able to offer support to their colleagues where appropriate. What you will be doing Design, develop, test, maintain and regularly review automated database extraction and reporting procedures that will offer timely, accurate and appropriately structured information to be available to the Executive Leadership Team, the wider Force, Partners and analysts to aid decision making and understanding Liaise with managers across the Force to gain an understanding of required technological improvements and ensure sustainable solutions Develop and deliver in-house training both in person or virtually to the workforce educating them on how to access, use, and report from the BI products Undertake an initial analysis of data extracted to ensure it meets the needs of the customer, is accurate and in a suitable format for more detailed analysis and evaluation About you and your experience Scripting skills or ability to write code e.g. SQL, HTML, CSS Ability to analyse technical problems and articulate potential solutions in a structured, logical and non-technicalmanner Experience in use of database interrogation and reportingtools Ability to present business intelligence solutions and recommendations at all levels of the organisation including the Executive Leadership Team Educated to degree level (preferably in a STEM field) would be desirable Experience of developing, implementing and managing a performance or business intelligence solution would be desirable What we offer • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days • Hybrid working • Flexi hours scheme • Free Gym membership • Physical and mental well-being support • Generous Pension scheme Please note, all roles will be subject to a vetting procedure, some roles due to the nature of their work, will require additional security clearance.
