Production Engineer - Martin Audio

The Role:
An experienced Production Engineer is required to join the operations team; the successful candidate will assist the current production and engineering teams in the maintenance of current and future products manufactured in the UK and overseas. You will also be involved in assisting the operations team in supply management and sourcing, be a key member of the change management team and ensure accurate item creation and manufacturing bill of material (BOM) accuracy from PLM to ERP systems. This role would suit someone with the following skills and experience:
* 3D CAD proficiency and creation of 2D drawings Interpretation of 2D drawings.
* A thorough understanding of design for manufacture.
* A thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and their benefits and limitations, including wooden cabinets, metal fabrication and injection moulding.
* The ability to focus on the details that are important to the customer and safety of the product.
* Practical workshop skills.
* Working knowledge of change management processes.
* Proven experience of using PLM’s and manufacturing ERP’s.
Duties:
Introduce new products into production:
* Plan workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
* Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks.
* Generate production documentation such as assembly instructions
* Organise and run pilot builds to resolve all issues prior to mass production.
* Inspect and review pilot build of finished goods made at contract manufacturers, ensuring works instructions are accurate.
Change management:
* Investigate reported production problems and customer related issues/requests to generate a problem report with proposed corrective actions.
* Report into the change management team to confirm corrective actions.
* Implement changes to the production line.
* Update documentation such as working instructions/SOP’s.
Sustain the production of existing products.
* Re-sourcing and the approval of parts from alternative suppliers as part of the engineering team
* Continuous improvement of production with regards to tools and working practises.
Maintenance of manufacturing bills of material:
* Create manufacturing BOM’s with the WindChill PLM system based on the current engineering BOM.
* Own the process of migrating manufacturing BOM’s into the ERP system
* Update changes in existing BOM’s in Windchill PLM ensuring all stock is handled correctly, and subsequently updating the ERP system.
Secondary Functions:
* Visit key suppliers in the UK and overseas, to discuss new product requirements, best design practice and achievable tolerances
* Work within the design team to give Production Engineering input at the design stage and have foresight to plan for future production.
* Assist in ensuring that clear communications of project timelines, material deliveries, key deadlines and works/purchase orders are made available to the wider team in order to provide on time delivery of each change
* Maintenance of ERP master data; supporting production, planning, procurement and sales teams.
Skills and experience required:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or an associated discipline.
* You will have the ability to problem solve and present solutions based on sound engineering principals.
* You will be proficient in a professional 3D CAD package such as Creo Parametric. You will be able to construct 3D solid models.
* You will have the ability to interpret engineering drawings for parts and assemblies, for manufacture and quality control, these will be fully detailed with the required dimensioning and tolerancing.
* You will have experience of using a PLM system with regards to document control and change management.
* You will be able to construct jigs and fixtures using basic machine tools. You will be able bodied and able to lift items in accordance with H&S regulations.
* You will be experience in manufacturing ERP’s with a good working knowledge of creation of parts, assemblies and exploded bills of material.
Job Conditions:
Martin Audio UK is situated in High Wycombe, with this site including Factory Production, Research & Development, Marketing, Sales, Service, Sourcing, and Central Functions (martin-audio.com).
This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week over the standard working hours of 8.45am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am to 4pm on Friday. An hour is allowed for lunch Monday to Thursday and 45 minutes on Friday.
