The opportunity
We’re excited to offer the opportunity for a passionate Teacher in Animal Management to join our Land Based Industries department on a maternity cover contract until March 2026. In this role, you’ll collaborate with Course Leaders and managers to deliver engaging, high-quality teaching that helps learners thrive in their animal care and management studies.
You’ll be responsible for planning and preparing lessons that meet the curriculum needs of the College, creating and providing teaching materials that support student learning. You’ll assess students’ work, track their progress, and use a variety of teaching methods to engage and support each learner. You’ll also provide cover when necessary, ensuring that lesson plans are followed, and learning continues smoothly.
In addition, you’ll monitor and update individual learning plans, ensuring learners are progressing as expected. You’ll carry out initial assessments and create a positive, inclusive learning environment where students feel supported and motivated. Promoting safe working practices will be a key part of your role, alongside completing assessment documentation to the required standard. Working closely with your colleagues, you’ll help manage resources effectively and maintain high standards of animal husbandry.
This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver a range of animal care and management courses, providing students with the practical experience they need in animal sciences and husbandry. You’ll also contribute to course meetings, keeping the team updated on student progress. If you’re passionate about animal management and education, this is a great chance to make a positive impact in a supportive and dynamic team.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for animal management who is excited about passing on your expertise to the next generation of animal care professionals. You’ll be dedicated to supporting our students as they develop the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their careers, ensuring they gain the confidence to succeed in the animal care and management industry.
You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that capture the interest of learners at all levels. You’ll prepare high-quality teaching materials, assess students' work, and track their progress to ensure they meet the learning objectives. You’ll also use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and needs, creating a dynamic learning experience for every student.

You’ll assist in creating and maintaining individual learning plans, monitor student progress, and ensure that assessment documentation is completed to the required standards.
While prior teaching experience is beneficial, it’s not essential. What truly matters is your enthusiasm for animal management and your desire to make a positive impact on your students.
