This exciting new role in a new function builds on our mission to improve the creativity and innovation achieved within and amongst a large manufacturing engineering team. Through your work, you will help modernize our business through incremental and radical innovations across our products and processes.
Leveraging your degree, or demonstrable professional experience, you will work closely with experts distributed across different engineering functions taking responsibility for writing bids and managing program delivery to support their goals. Your role will require identifying new internal and external collaboration opportunities and developing methods to boost engineering creativity. Due to the collaborative nature of the role, you will be expected to work onsite in our open office one day per week (flexibly) and, occasionally, travel to suppliers/customers/partners.
We need you to share your transferable skills, knowledge and experience within our team as you:
o Manage – Lead funded projects and their stakeholders to create and maintain plans to deliver multiple projects to timing, minimise risks, analyse financial and resource budgets and ensure timely issue resolution. Work with external independent auditors and coordinate the collection of auditable evidence and compilation of reports.
o Explore – Utilise your knowledge of the UK/EU funding landscape to identify external opportunities for collaborative R&D projects, working with relevant external parties such as government departments and their appointed bodies e.g. InnovateUK.
o Collaborate - Grow Ford’s external network and maintain relationships with internal and external partners and consider fitment for collaborative projects, either as a lead or partner. Additionally, work with internal stakeholders to lead/support the replication of innovative solutions globally.
o Protect – Work with our internal functions to establish cross-party collaboration agreements, non-disclosure agreements and support the creation of intellectual property disclosures and patent applications.
o In particular, as a lead within the department, you will:
o Take ownership of a large in-flight project leading personnel from multiple departments to manage risks and ensure successful delivery to an agreed plan.
o Work with agility and manage your time to support in-flight projects whilst also creating new opportunities.
o Lead and coordinate critical funding applications driving the creation of compelling bids and manage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
What you bring along:
Skills required:
* Project management including budget analysis.
* Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
* Working knowledge of the UK funding landscape.
* Ability to communicate powerfully across all levels within an organisation (verbal and written).
* Highly effective stakeholder management.
Experience required:
* Experience coordinating and writing bids for funding, e.g. UKRI, Innovate UK, Horizon Europe or equivalent.
* Management of technical projects and work package delivery.
Experience preferred:
* Experience working within the automotive sector or a large company.
Education preferred:
* Bachelor degree. Preferably in engineering.
* 5+ years of industry experience without a Degree.
Position is confirmed inside IR35. Successful candidates need to be eligible to work in the UK.
