Job Description for Risk Practitioner
Working within the BMO, the risk practitioner will be required to support the risk manager on ensuring that there is an efficient, effective and comprehensive approach to risk management. Providing effective controls and assurance to minimise risk events, which result in a negative impact to the organisation/employees/assets and poor customer outcomes, reputational damage or regulatory scrutiny/intervention.
Will be expected to have a good knowledge and understanding of risk management processes and applicable analytical skills, procedures, and tools (such as, but not limited to, Active Risk Manager – ARM) by working closely with fellow risk professionals, Project Managers and teams to collate and challenge inputs to the risk database ensuring they are underpinned.
The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Risley, Workington or Sellafield.
Main Responsibilities for Risk Practitioner
1. Support the implementation of Project Risk management processes.
2. Undertake analytical analyses, Schedule Risk Analysis, Cost Risk Analysis at a Programme and Project level
3. Reporting and presenting analytical outputs to internal and external customers.
4. Supporting, training and guiding Project Team members in the use of risk and issues toolsets.
5. Identification of risk process improvement opportunities and best practice implementation.
6. Provide governance and assurance with regard to the implementation of Risk Management Processes and data quality requirements.
7. Input to Lessons Learned process.
8. Produce reporting to comply with the Company risk policy.
9. Lead on facilitating identification, assessment, management and analysis of risks within the portfolio of Programmes and projects.
10. Assist with identification of and recording of appropriate risk mitigation activities which are measurable and specific, along with assessing the post mitigated positions.
11. Supporting the Project teams on a daily basis to maintain detailed risk registers.
12. Ensuring that Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) are regularly reviewed.
13. Working alongside Project Managers to contribute to the creation of robust, objective and accurate reporting at a portfolio, Programme and project level.
14. Support the production of and Reporting latest risk positions and mitigations to stakeholders through regular governance meetings and reviews.
15. Monitor identification and closeout of Program level issues.
Essential Criteria for Risk Practitioner
16. Working knowledge, experience of risk management tools (such as, but not limited to, ARM) and applying in complex and multi – stakeholder environments.
17. Experience of producing, presenting and reporting of analytical outputs.
18. Support the improvement of and delivering results against clear and measurable targets and standards.
19. Demonstrable evidence of Project Management competences in Risk Management.
20. Demonstrable evidence of Project Management competences in Stakeholder Management, Planning and Governance.
21. Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for Risk Practitioner
22. Experience of operating in a matrix-based organisation balancing and meeting the requirements of multiple reporting lines and stakeholders.
23. Experience of working in highly regulated process driven environments.
24. Logical and diligent with good attention to detail whilst being able to absorb and process large amounts of information.
