Job summary We have an exciting opportunity to employ a new diabetes specialist nurse. The successful candidate would work across both hospital (Bournemouth and Poole) sites within our multi-disciplinary team providing care for patients with diabetes. If the candidate has no experience of working within diabetes, we would consider this being a developmental role, starting first as a band 5, achieving competencies and aiming to move to be a band 6 within 12 months. This would require the successful candidate to be motivated to learn, to be confident with technology and compassionate towards patients. The job will be initially as part of the inpatient diabetes team, helping to assess and plan care for patients with diabetes in hospital. The candidate will need to be able to work on their own and as part of a wider team. The Band 6 Diabetes Nurse Specialist works as part of an admission avoidance service, providing inpatient, outpatient and community services for patients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, transitional diabetes and secondary diabetes. Main duties of the job As a team, we provide highly specialised, expert assessment and review of patients with diabetes.
