Job description:
We have two posts to fill, so this is a fantastic opportunity to work as an Advisor (Nuclear Specialist) in either our Radioactive Substances Regulation Business Team or our Advanced Nuclear Technologies team in Energy and Resources in the national Environment & Business (E&B) Directorate.
At the Environment Agency (EA), we are responsible for the protection of people and the environment, including the regulation of industries across England that use and dispose of radioactive substances.
You will provide national technical leadership, analysis, and advice to our site regulators and others across the Environment Agency, to Government, to industry, and liaise with other regulators both in the UK and overseas.
You'll need a sound understanding of the nuclear industry, radioactive substances regulation, wider environmental protection, sustainable development, and government policies and strategies. Knowledge of the environmental challenges the UK faces and the socio-economic environment will also be beneficial.
The team:
You'll join either the Radioactive Substances Regulation Business Team or the Advanced Nuclear Technologies team, reporting to the Energy and Resources Director. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued.

10. Significant experience in the relevant industry sector and sound understanding of nuclear physics or radiochemistry.
