Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Weston Super Mare
Salary: ~ £65,000 per year
Reports To: Head of Engineering

To support their growing operations, they are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic engineer to join their team. As an engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing in-house plant machinery, with a strong focus on welding, mechanical maintenance, and tool application. You will work in a dynamic environment, ensuring the smooth operation of various systems and machinery within their facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build, and maintain in-house plant machinery and equipment
* Perform welding and mechanical maintenance on a variety of machinery
* Ensure effective operation of systems, including conveyors, motors, and industrial equipment
* Carry out routine maintenance, oiling, and greasing of plant machinery
* Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues
* Work with basic tools and measurement systems
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of plant and machinery
* Be an active part of a team that fosters personal and professional growth
* Engage in a flexible working schedule, with the potential for overtime as needed (typically Monday to Friday, potential overtime on Saturday, 7 am to 7 pm)
* Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment with a good sense of humour
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Mechanical engineering qualification required
* Proven mechanical experience, ideally within the recycling sector, automotive, or similar industries (plastics, metals, aggregates)
* Welding experience (intermediate level)
* Good understanding of measurements and tool applications
* Ability to work independently, must be strong with collaboration and being a team player
* Willingness to learn and develop new skills
* Strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach
* Flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage different tasks and responsibilities
* A sense of humour and a positive, “can-do” attitude
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with conveyors and industrial machinery
* Exposure to IEE standards
* Background in automotive, recycling or related sectors
* Ability to engage with and contribute to a progressive, investor-in-people-focused company
