Job Description
This is an opportunity to join a fast-moving and growing organisation within an established Risk function, and an engaged EXCO team who share the same vision as to what good looks like.

This is a core role inside both the Group Risk function and across the wider Bank. Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, the role holder will be part of the 2nd line Operational Risk Team and will support with the development, embedding and oversight of the groups risk management framework. They will work with stakeholders across the bank to ensure effective collaboration and oversight for operational risks.
Collaboration across our business areas and within the Group Risk team will be essential for success, to ensure that we leverage the use of data and technology to improve our oversight of key risks, following the successful implementation of a new GRC tool in 2023.
The ideal candidate will have financial services experience. Knowledge of commercial (SME and Real Estate), and consumer Lending would be beneficial, though is not essential.
Responsibilities
* Support the Head of Operational Risk in embedding the risk management framework.
* Drive usage and engagement of the Group's GRC tool (Auditboard) across 1st line Risk Champions, providing support and guidance to ensure adherence to the risk management framework.
* Engage with 1st line business areas to ensure risks and controls are appropriately documented in Auditboard, and that control design/operational effectiveness is regularly tested.
* Provide oversight and challenge to the 1st line across all key areas of the risk management framework, including: RCSA, risk events and KRI's.
* Champion continuous improvement by utilising MI (including PowerBI dashboards within Auditboard) and monitoring themes and trends.
* Represent risk on business projects, to ensure delivery risks have been considered and are appropriately managed.
* Represent risk at committees, and where required, provide secretariat support.
* Support with the ongoing maintenance and development of the Group's GRC tool.
* Update and maintain relevant operational risk policies and standards.
* Keep up to date with emerging threats, industry developments, and internal MI that may impact the Bank's exposure to risks and potential losses.
Qualifications
* In depth knowledge of different types of operational risks, systems and processes including risk management frameworks, control frameworks and standards and operational resilience.
* Proven and substantial experience gained within a financial services (preferably mortgage/consumer lending) environment
* Experience in identifying, developing and executing a risk framework and understanding of risk methodologies in financial services environment
* Experience in using a GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) tool
* Strong product and sector knowledge of the broad financial services regulatory regime.
* In-depth knowledge of operational risk and appreciation of other non-financial risks
* Collaborative mindset and desire to challenge the status quo, to improve current processes and work more efficiently across lines of defence
* Ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Bank.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of management, regulators, and committees.
* Ability to remove bureaucracy and consider the Customer in everything we do
* Strong influencing skills with the ability to package and present ideas and gain agreement at a senior management level.
* Ability to embrace data and technology, operating in an environment where data use is key
