Position: Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Burgess Hill
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Permanent
About The School: This SEN School is a dynamic and inclusive special needs school catering to pupils aged 4-19 with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities. The Role: As a Teaching Assistant at this School, you will play a vital role in supporting the pupils' learning, helping them to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. Working closely with the class teacher, you will assist with the planning, delivery, and assessment of lessons, adapting activities to meet the needs of individual students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with special educational needs
2. Assist with classroom management and the preparation of learning materials
3. Encourage positive behaviour and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment
4. Support pupils' personal and emotional development
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
6. Help with personal care needs where necessary
7. Contribute to the monitoring and recording of pupil progress
What We're Looking For:
8. Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a SEN or educational setting
9. A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude
10. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils
11. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
12. A commitment to the wellbeing and development of every child
13. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN qualifications) are desirable but not essential
