Job summary
Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics (Registrar)
Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics based in a large tertiary centre with MTC, NOF unit and stand-alone elective orthopaedic centre. These posts are designed to be a stepping-stone towards consultant career and may form part of non-training grade registrar experience for CESR or more senior experience in a sub-specialist area, depending on the candidate.
Start date:- as soon as possible for 12 months.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following are described in the introduction section.
The rota will be a bespoke rota as explained in the introduction section.
The post holder accepts that they will also perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation, where practicable, with their colleagues, both senior and junior. While it has been agreed between the professions that they will perform such duties, the Secretary of State stresses that additional commitments arising under this sub-section are exceptions and you should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential
1. Basic Medical Degree
2. Postgraduate qualification or appropriate specialist qualification
3. Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
4. Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
Desirable
5. Higher Degree (MD, PhD)
Clinical Skills & Experience
Essential
6. Competencies equivalent to completion of ST4, as a minimum
7. Understanding of clinical risk management
8. An ability to communicate well with patients and staff
Desirable
9. Completion of FRCS(Orth) or equivalent
10. Certificate of completion of Training (CCT)
Organisation & Planning
Essential
11. Able to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need
12. Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
