The Client
Our client is a well-established provider of building control services on a variety of domestic, residential, commercial, and industrial projects. They work with homeowners, builders, architects, and agents to ensure that any work carried out complies with Building Regulations and associated legislation, providing practical advice and guidance where necessary.
The Responsibilities
1. Provide pre-application advice to clients/potential clients in relation to Building Regulations.
2. Assess and set fees ensuring that the scope of work is agreed with the client.
3. Generate quotations.
4. Vet applicable documents to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated statutory legislation and guidance.
5. Carry out plan checks to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
6. Conduct site inspections of work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations.
7. Ensure that all projects and inspection records are accurately recorded on the company database.
8. Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company's QA procedures.
9. Develop and maintain excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships.
10. Participate in training as necessary to remain up to date with new systems of work and legislation and to ensure continuous improvement.
11. Support new members of staff on Company Database, Company systems, and processes.
12. Provide support and advice to new and existing members of staff on Building Control matters.
13. Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation and guidelines set out by the Company.
14. Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required, commensurate with experience and competency, as directed by a Director.
Skills & Experience
1. Degree level qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Building Studies (or equivalent).
2. Professional membership of RICS/CABE/CIOB (or working towards).
3. Ability to apply a practical, common sense approach to Building Control.
4. Effective time management and planning skills with the ability to take responsibility for own productivity.
5. The ability to portray a professional image and a high level of discretion at all times.
6. Confident in the use of IT systems.
