Are you ready to progress your career in an exciting and vibrant Children's Hospital? We are pleased to share this exciting opportunity to take on a clinical nurse specialist role within the Children's Haematology and Oncology Service, based at Leeds General Infirmary. The successful applicant will join the well-established and dynamic team and have the opportunity to develop their clinical expertise and knowledge, as well as project management skills. You will develop and support delivery of the ambulatory chemotherapy service and contribute in identifying a model to sustain and expand this further.
We are looking for a candidate that is seeking a new challenge or to enhance their career. Clinical experience within paediatric and/or adult haematology or oncology and experience of project management is preferable. The successful applicant will work alongside the project and multi-disciplinary teams to provide coordinated, high-quality, individualised family-centred care to children and teenagers with cancer.
Part-time candidates will be considered.
Main duties of the job
As the project lead, you will play a pivotal role in the management and care coordination of those children and teenagers eligible to receive ambulatory chemotherapy, in conjunction with their key worker, wider multi-disciplinary team and colleagues across other statutory and voluntary organisations. In partnership with the Matron and Lead Children & Teenage Cancer Nurse and Shared Care Partners, identify a sustainable service model that enables the development of a sustainable ambulatory chemotherapy service.
You may travel across the region to support shared care centres across the clinical network. You will help the provision of education for children/teenagers and their families and professionals who are supporting them.

We have a JACIE accredited Stem Cell Transplant Unit for children and young people, which forms part of the West Yorkshire Bone Marrow Transplant programme. We care for children and young people with a range of non-malignant haematological disorders. Leeds is a Comprehensive Care Centre for Haemophilia and a Specialist Centre for Haemoglobinopathy.

Job responsibilities
The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the specialty service. The jobholder will ensure cost-effective use of resources.
The jobholder will work within a project team and be responsible to the Day Unit manager.
This is a regional service that provides holistic and expert care to all patients under the care of the Principal Treatment Centre for Children's Cancer at the Leeds General Infirmary.
