About The Role
Our UK Legal team are recruiting for a Compliance Counsel on a full-time permanent basis. The role reports into the General Counsel & Compliance Officer and will be responsible for implementation and maintenance of the Volkswagen Group UK compliance management system.
You will ensure the provision of timely and commercially relevant legal advice in respect of compliance requirements and activities in the UK and escalate and report to the General Counsel and board of management any compliance issues that arise. As part of a pro-active Legal & Compliance function you will also play a key role in influencing compliance policies within our global Group landscape and have the opportunity to work with our international colleagues to help deliver the latest in best practice and work collaboratively and creatively to bring compliance to life.
What you could be doing:
1. You’ll take the lead on delivering the UK compliance plan and the roll out of the Global compliance programme within the UK.
2. You’ll support the business and provide timely, commercially astute advice on all matters of compliance.
3. You’ll have subject matter expertise on Competition Law, Bribery and Corruption, Financial Conduct and Money Laundering to name a few.
4. You’ll lead the annual assessment of the UK business’ key compliance risks and devise a programme of focus for each year.
5. You’ll also get involved in the design and management of compliance awareness training, aimed to educate our business on important topics.
6. You’ll work in strong collaboration with the wider business and build key relationships at a senior level.
Skills & experience you can bring to the role:
1. Significant experience of establishing and maintaining compliance programmes.
2. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, including an ability to negotiate and convince others effectively at a senior level.
3. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with internal and external stakeholders including senior management, regulators, legislators and industry bodies.
4. Ability to prioritise workloads, evaluate progress and to meet key deadlines.
5. Ability to exercise initiative and willingness to propose initiatives and accept responsibility.
6. Comprehensive skills of developing effective policies, procedures, training and guidelines.
7. Ability to communicate in an engaging and effective way.
8. Self-reliant and motivated with ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
