We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Science Technician to support the delivery of practical science lessons in a well-resourced and dynamic school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for science and a keen eye for detail to play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the science department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preparing, setting up, and maintaining equipment and materials for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
2. Ensuring all science laboratories and prep rooms are organised, well-stocked, and meet health and safety regulations.
3. Providing technical support to teachers during lessons, assisting with demonstrations and experiments where required.
4. Managing the safe disposal of chemicals and biological materials in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
5. Keeping accurate records of stock levels, placing orders, and managing budgets for science resources.
6. Maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
7. Supporting students during practical sessions to enhance their learning experience.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A strong background in science, ideally with a qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., A-levels or a degree in Science).
2. Previous experience in a laboratory or school science department is desirable but not essential.
3. Good organisational and time-management skills.
4. Awareness of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment, including COSHH regulations.
5. A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with strong problem-solving skills.
6. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
