The Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Team is looking for an innovative, energetic, growth-oriented senior manager, who is ready to lead a portfolio of cutting-edge large-scale research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects in the offshore wind industry. The portfolio includes projects in the incubation stage, which will involve the scoping, financing and contracting of new RD&D projects. The portfolio also includes projects in the delivery stage, which will involve directing, managing and financial tracking of RD&D projects. A non-exhaustive list of current projects can be found here: You will have responsibility to deliver projects across a range of technical areas of offshore wind, which may include cables, electrical systems, foundations, logistics, yield, grid integration, floating, environment and sustainability. Your project portfolio can be tailored to your specific areas of interest, but the expectation is to cover multiple technical areas. You will have responsibility to grow your portfolio of projects, by engaging with the Carbon Trust offshore wind programmes (such as the Offshore Wind Accelerator, Offshore Renewables JIP, Floating Wind JIP, The Integrator and Sustainability JIP) to identify new project ideas and to scope powerful joint-industry projects to execute those ideas. You will bring thought leadership to innovation project ideation, identifying key challenges in the industry and building projects to address those challenges. You will have the autonomy to bring new approaches to how the Offshore Wind Team delivers its work in RD&D project incubation and delivery. All your projects will involve management of multiple stakeholders, and you will be the central leading contact for all of these stakeholders. Internally, you will lead a team of colleagues, who will each be working on different projects in the portfolio. You will oversee their work, providing upskilling, capacity building, quality assurance, guidance and direction, as well as making connections between various colleagues and breaking siloed working. You will be supported by other senior members of the Offshore Wind Team, but will lead your portfolio with autonomy and dynamism. Externally, you will engage with a wide range of industry stakeholders, including offshore wind developers, supply chain companies, public funding agencies, research institutions, universities, and consultancies. You will use your contacts in these external stakeholders to build powerful collaborative joint-industry consortia, which are optimised to best solve the problems the RD&D projects are addressing.,
* Project incubation
+ Responsible for successfully turning a portfolio of new RD&D project ideas into live, impactful delivery projects + Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand key challenges in the offshore wind industry and translate these into opportunities for new projects + Engage with other research organisations and potential funders to create collaboration opportunities + Lead a team of colleagues, including clear, efficient separation and delegation of tasks through the project incubation phase + Clearly communicate new project ideas internally and externally, to understand industry priorities and to secure buy-in from key stakeholders + Work with technical experts (internal and external) to scope projects + Produce accurate, realistic and investable project budgets + Identify key project risks and mitigation strategies + Identify and apply for public funding, where required by a project + Identify and secure private industry funding, where required by a project, through drafting of clear investable business cases + Draft and negotiate contracts to define the project, including collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements and subcontracts + Develop strong external networks across the offshore wind industry (e.g. through attending international conferences and events) and leverage this to initiative new joint-industry projects

+ Responsible for the successful delivery of a portfolio of large-scale joint-industry RD&D projects in delivery + Lead a team of colleagues, including clear, efficient separation and delegation of tasks through the project delivery phase + Manage project delivery, including timelines, deadlines, quality assurance of deliverables, scope variation, contract variation and budget variation. + Ensure all projects are delivered on budget + Ensure all colleagues are following best project management practice and tools, and be responsible for standard setting and upskilling + Ensure all external delivery partners are delivering to appropriate standards, and fix any delivery issues that arise + Keep oversight of all procurement activities, invitations to tender, tender evaluations and contract negotiations with selected bidders during project delivery + Manage human resourcing within your projects to ensure delivery teams are correctly resourced + Maintain overview of all project risks and mitigations, flagging to other Offshore Wind Team senior colleagues where appropriate + Attend and chair key project meetings + Develop dissemination strategies + Attend conferences and industry events to disseminate key findings of projects + Coordinate press and marketing releases relating to projects, working closely with Carbon Trust's and project partners' marketing teams to maximise press coverage of key updates on the projects
