Business Support Manager
Grade 5 - £40,221 - £48,474. Consultation grade, subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Permanent, Full-time, 36.5 hours per week.
Location: The role is hybrid, the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

About the Role:
As a Business Support Manager, you will lead and manage a team to provide high quality business support activities to achieve service objectives. You will ensure effective relationships are built across key frontline and support services, resulting in a business support team that is responsive, efficient, and of a consistently high standard. You will take a lead role in the following areas:
* Administration: Manage business support activities such as Personal Assistant/Executive level support to senior leadership.
* Development of teams and individuals in the use of digital tools.
* Develop systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective governance is in place.
* High quality relationship management with a range of stakeholders, developing credible professional relationships and a strong reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide proactive leadership and management of a team to deliver high-quality, responsive, and efficient business support services.
* Act as an effective business partner, ensuring robust relationship management and flexibility to meet business needs and priorities.
* Promote clear direction and communication, strong workforce and succession planning, and active staff development.
* Manage allocated budgets effectively, ensuring compliance with Council requirements and minimizing risks.
* Ensure effective governance and compliance, providing advice and support for political governance and data protection laws.
* Lead a team to investigate and coordinate queries, compliments, and complaints, and identify proposals for service improvement.
About You:
* Educated to graduate degree level or equivalent experience in a management role.
* Demonstrable willingness to undertake continuous professional development.
* Experience in planning, managing, and monitoring resources, including recruiting, training, and developing staff.
* Proven ability to manage and implement service improvements and monitor progress against objectives.
* Strong knowledge of performance management principles and relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of professionals.
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office standard packages and other relevant programs.
