RxCelerate is looking for a Laboratory Manager to lead and support dedicated laboratory staff, providing expert knowledge and direction on all laboratory-related matters. This role requires strong leadership skills, a focus on staff development, and the ability to manage both current operations and future laboratory needs effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Acting as the primary point of contact for laboratory staff, offering leadership and guidance.
2. Managing laboratory logistics, overseeing staff, and ensuring smooth workflows.
3. Conducting inductions and providing training on laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
4. Managing laboratory stocks, reagents, consumables, PPE, and equipment in collaboration with technicians.
5. Ensuring the proper preparation of reagents and the management of laboratory-based assets.
6. Coordinating equipment upgrades, purchases, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
7. Overseeing laboratory audits, inspections, and temperature monitoring systems.
8. Maintaining up-to-date laboratory documentation, including SOPs and Risk Assessments.
9. Promoting safety, recycling, and proper waste disposal within the laboratory environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Essential: Proven experience working as a Laboratory Manager in a pharmaceutical/R&D laboratory.
2. Educated to degree level in a relevant scientific field.
3. Previous line management experience.
4. Knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety regulations.
5. Knowledge of the requirements of the Human Tissue Act.
6. Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to work well under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines and changes in prioritisation.
Desirable:
1. Experience of working under GxP standards.
2. NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award or equivalent.
