Job overview
The Community Paediatric Service is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic and passionate Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of the team. The post holder will provide assessment and advice across the service autism pathway.
They will play a key role in contributing to the assessment processes through direct clinical assessment both independently and as a member of the MDT, in addition to providing advice and consultation to the clinical team including the medical team.
The post holder will work closely with the consultant paediatricians, additional clinical and admin staff within the team, and colleagues from varied agencies across Oldham.
The Community Paediatric Service is part of the children's integrated health teams and works closely with colleagues from therapies and nursing. The team is continually working towards improvements to provide the best possible outcomes for children and families in Oldham. This provides the post holder with great opportunities to work jointly with colleagues and draw upon their specialist knowledge to provide quality care planning for children and their families.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead delivery of the Autism assessment diagnostic pathway for the Community Paediatric Service.
2. Provide specialist assessment, advice, and overview of children and young people on the assessment pathway.
3. Support Speech Therapy colleagues and clinical staff in the assessment process and delivery of a quality service.
4. Liaise with a wide range of professional and external agencies to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care.
5. Be integral in the multi-disciplinary team providing direct assessment for children and young people and/or providing specialist advice and consultation to team members to determine if language assessments are required to support the team to reach a diagnostic conclusion.
6. Lead on the Autism pathway and service development across Speech Therapy and the Community Paediatric Service.
7. Provide a highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment/discharge service for children and carers/families.

Person specification
Registration and qualification
* Registered SALT
* Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists recognised training course (degree or equivalent)
* Masters Degree
Knowledge and Skills
* Expertise in detailed analysis of assessment and/or diagnostic procedures, and established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions.
* Experience of liaison with other professionals & partnership working.
* Excellent written & verbal communication skills - ability to present information in a clear & logical manner, including giving presentations.
* Experience of dealing with safeguarding cases.
* Audit experience of own & others practice.
* Contribution to service & staff development.
* Previous experience undertaking a senior clinical role.
