East Staffordshire Borough Council’s in-house Legal Services has an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join its friendly, supportive and experienced legal team on a part-time temporary contract. Eligible candidates should be qualified as a solicitor or barrister and possess relevant experience in all aspects of local government law and procedure with particular expertise in Planning Law. Previous local government experience would also be desirable but not essential. This post would suit a qualified solicitor with 5 years experience who is looking to use their knowledge and experience whilst working part-time hours in a flexible way. The post will require a variety of duties commensurate with the experience of the candidate. Depending on experience, the role will require occasional attendance as legal advisor to the Council’s planning committees which is held on a monthly basis, the handling of some litigation matters alongside the use of the candidates drafting skills so as to undertake planning work. Support and training shall be provided on all duties where required.
