Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electronics engineer / embedded systems engineer to join an expanding company that is enhancing its technology offerings and developing new products. With it comes career development and leadership opportunities.
This company is small but part of a larger group, is growing, and designs and manufactures a range of sensor-based products. They seek to enhance and create a new range of intelligent sensors based on AI / machine learning technologies and IoT / wireless technologies.
Responsibilities:
The electronics engineer / embedded systems engineer will be a key player within the product development team and will be involved with the design, development, and validation of key hardware and embedded software components for the products. As this is a small company, the senior embedded systems engineer will adopt several roles and be involved with aspects of embedded software development and digital electronics design. They will also mentor a small team of junior engineers and assist with implementing new technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence / IoT). Success will lead to leadership and management opportunities.
Skills / Knowledge Required:
1. A good Degree or Masters from a good university in a relevant subject (e.g., electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, mechatronics, etc.)
2. Experience as an electronics design engineer / embedded software engineer within an industry / commercial product development environment
3. Good practical experience of embedded software and ideally applications layer programming (embedded C, C++, Java, Python, etc.)
4. Experience of digital electronics circuit design (schematic capture, circuit analysis, and PCB layout ideally) – use of tools such as Orcad, Altium, etc.
5. Experience of microcontroller programming
6. Good problem-solving skills coupled with practical electronics ability (able to support prototype development, test, and validation activities)
7. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Beneficial Skills and Knowledge:
1. Experience of artificial intelligence / machine learning
2. Experience of IoT / Wireless technologies or sensor technologies and DSP
3. Knowledge of the manufacture of electronics products (DFM / DFT)
4. Leadership / mentoring experience
The ideal candidate would be an ambitious, driven, and creative embedded software / embedded systems engineer with a strong academic background and good practical electronics design skills, who can bring new ideas and implement new technologies to enhance the company’s products.
