Join the Audi F1 Project - Shape the Future of Motorsport!
Welcome to the Audi F1 Project. Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026. The position for the Audi F1 Project is at Sauber in Hinwil (Switzerland).
Your mission:
* Lead the development of the vehicle simulation tools and methods used throughout the company
* Lead the development of the underlying numerical and optimization methods
* Research, develop, and implement state-of-the-art simulation methodologies to aid in the optimization of vehicle performance and vehicle development
* Lead the development of automated model correlation and testing routines
* Responsible for optimizing the computation efficiency and robustness of all simulation tools
* Contribute to the development of the vehicle physics model
* Prepare documentation and presentations for software users and technical management
* Coordinate and communicate development priorities with other departments
* Define group skills targets/matrix and implement development plans
* Define and implement processes to ensure quality of released software
Your profile:
* Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
* Extensive experience developing simulation models and tools, ideally within Formula 1 or another high-level motorsport environment
* Previous management experience would be beneficial
* Strong coding in C/C++ and good knowledge of C#, Python, Matlab, Simulink, and/or Modelica would be advantageous
* Expertise developing simulation software and solving computational engineering problems
* Expert knowledge of numerical methods and optimization methodology
* Expert in developing lap time simulation tools and methodologies
* Strong background in many of the following areas:
o Optimization methods
o Numerical methods and analysis
o Mathematical modelling and simulation
o Simulation methodology development
o Computational efficiency
* Good understanding of physical mechanics, engineering dynamics, thermal science, and fluid dynamics would be beneficial
* Highly self-motivated, dedicated, creative, result-oriented, and able to work independently with a very high attention to detail
* Pragmatic with a distinct scientific approach
* Capable of weighing and balancing competing priorities and short- vs long-term objectives while maintaining quality
* Dedicated, persevering, open-minded, innovative, and a team player
* Full professional proficiency in German or English and a willingness to learn a basic level in the corresponding other language are prerequisites
