Hard Services Manager

π Job Type: Full-Time: Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm + on call (optional)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Hard Services Manager to oversee the maintenance and operations of our building facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background and proven leadership or supervisory experience within a facilities management or building maintenance environment.
This role involves managing a team of engineers and contractors, ensuring that all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and in compliance with health and safety regulations. You will play a key role in optimising building performance, ensuring critical systems are maintained to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the maintenance and operation of electrical and mechanical building services, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Lead and manage a team of engineers and contractors, providing guidance, training, and support.

Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules to optimise building performance and reliability.

Respond to and manage reactive maintenance issues, prioritising urgent repairs.
β
Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
β
Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to maintain high safety standards.
β
Liaise with external contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
β
Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, including electrical safety standards.
β
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, compliance documentation, and asset management.
Requirements:
β Electrical background with relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
β Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role within building maintenance or facilities management.
β Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems in commercial buildings.
β Experience with planned and reactive maintenance strategies.
β Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
β Good knowledge of health and safety regulations, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
β Proficiency in using maintenance management software (e.g. CAFM systems) is desirable.
β Ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
