Learning Support Assistant LSA (Children with Complex Needs & Challenging Behaviour)

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant LSA to join our dynamic team in Woking. In this rewarding role, you will support children with complex needs and challenging behaviour in a special educational setting. Your work will focus on helping these children achieve their educational potential, supporting their personal development, and promoting positive behaviour in the classroom.
Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant LSA:
1. Provide one-on-one and group support to children with complex learning needs and challenging behaviour.
2. Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCO.
3. Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively, promoting a safe and positive learning environment.
4. Assist with personal care and other physical needs where necessary.
5. Observe and monitor student progress, reporting any concerns to relevant staff members.
6. Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social, emotional, and academic growth.
7. Support children in accessing the curriculum and maintaining engagement in lessons.
Skills of a Learning Support Assistant LSA:
1. Previous experience working with children with complex needs or challenging behaviour is desirable.
2. A patient and resilient approach to working with children who may have additional emotional or physical needs.
3. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
4. A proactive approach to problem-solving and managing challenging situations.
5. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
6. Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE) are advantageous but not essential.
