Job Description
As the chosen candidate, you will assume responsibility for spearheading various QA initiatives across a portfolio of desktop applications and web-based software products. Reporting to the QA Manager, you will collaborate with an existing team of QA Test Analysts, closely interfacing with cross-functional teams including Development, Product Ownership, Product Management, Support, Release Management, and Finance.
This position is of significant importance within the organisation and demands a high level of professionalism and technical competence.
Location
You'll be based at their offices in Peterborough, ideally being able to attend the office 4 days per week.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Execute testing activities in accordance with test plans, Agile development boards, and backlogs, adhering to schedules defined in conjunction with the QA Manager.
2. Develop, maintain, and execute test cases, test suites, test runs, and test plans.
3. Craft and manage automated test scripts.
4. Document defects and enhancement recommendations for the development team's attention.
5. Notify the Agile Team upon the completion of product testing.
6. Mentor junior team members as needed.
7. Offer insights to the QA Manager regarding the suitability of QA systems and test tools.
Required Experience and Knowledge
8. Proficiency in the software development lifecycle.
9. Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
10. Demonstrated leadership on test projects.
11. Expertise in testing desktop applications and web automation.
12. Basic functional coding skills, preferably in C# and JavaScript.
13. A dedicated team player with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
14. Strong independent judgment.
15. Adept at swiftly comprehending the technical workings of software.
Ideal but not essential experience
16. ISTQB Certified Tester, Foundation Level.
17. Experience with Atlassian Jira or equivalent tools.
18. Familiarity with Gurock TestRail or equivalent.
19. Knowledge of Ranorex or equivalent automation tools.
Typical Week
20. Develop, manage, and execute test cases, scripts, and suites for new or modified products.
21. Conduct testing as per test plans, Agile development boards, and backlogs.
22. Report defects with clear replication steps to the appropriate Product Owner.
23. Notify the Agile Team upon completion of product testing.
24. Ensure that test environments replicate customer environments and are kept up to date.
