About the Role
As a Highway Authority, Leicestershire County Council has a statutory responsibility to manage its highway (network) effectively, control and reduce congestion, and provide a high level of safe and reliable journeys to the road user.
The Network Management Service, within the Council's Highways & Transport Operations division, actively implements the Council's Local Transport Plan, focusing on the Management, Coordination, and Inspection of Temporary Road and Street Works as well as Events affecting the Highway, which is a statutory responsibility for network management.
The Network Coordinator role contributes to the delivery of The Council's statutory responsibility under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 by leading on the coordination of temporary road and street work activities on Leicestershire's Highway Network under the governance of all relevant regulations, statutory guidance, and codes of practice.
The nature of the work may require the jobholder to carry out work outside of normal working hours at various locations, including site visits and representing LCC at meetings and events; therefore, the ability to travel across the County as required is essential.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
* An HNC in Civil Engineering or a similar subject, or evidence of skills and experience in the Job Specification.
* Experience in highway maintenance, civil engineering, or street lighting.
* Ability to resolve enquiries in real time and provide feedback to customers and stakeholders.
* Knowledge of using ICT systems and business processes to support the efficient delivery of services and relevant technical guidance and standards.
* Understanding of current legislation, policies, and procedures; Highways Act, NRSWA, Traffic Management Act & Traffic Regulation Act.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, alongside analytical and creative thinking abilities. Capability to work to tight timescales and agreed targets.
* A customer-focused approach with the ability to connect with communities and localities through listening, dialogue, and understanding community needs. Ability to build positive relationships across stakeholders, peers, and partners, creating open and transparent relationships based on trust.
* A confident and professional demeanor.
