Position: Deputy Head
Location: Corwen, Denbighshire
Hours: Full time, term time
Salary Details: Up to £45,000 per annum
We are looking for the Deputy Headteacher who will provide the leadership required to achieve good and outstanding outcomes in terms of the quality of learning and teaching across the school, the curriculum content, and meeting student needs to overcome individual barriers and support the development of a love and enjoyment of learning.
The school:
Branas School supports young people aged 11-18, many of our pupils may have experienced significant adverse childhood experiences and as a result present with complex needs. Our school supports young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs and mild to moderate learning difficulties, requiring nurture and motivation from teachers who are dedicated and driven to help them release their true potential.
Requirements:
* QTS
* Higher degree or evidence of further professional qualification such as NPQ.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Clean and current car driving license.
* Willingness to complete the NPQH.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Understanding of the need to ensure a high level of presence around school and promote staff morale/wellbeing and ownership of the school’s vision, values and policies.
* Ability to develop students’ moral, spiritual, physical and social progress.
* Middle or senior leadership experience in a special or mainstream setting.
* Successful experience of effectively leading teaching and learning.
* Successful experience of leading high-quality training.
* Experience of developing high-quality leadership in curriculum areas through effective line management of middle and senior leaders.
* Thorough understanding of the Educational Inspection Framework and National Curriculum.
* Evidence of monitoring whole school targets and outcomes
* Successful experience in taking a lead role in curriculum development for students with additional learning needs.
* Experience of working with governors, trustees, and/or a local advisory board.
* Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures.
* Ability to manage a budget.
* Understanding of SEND Code of Practice.
Teaching and Learning:
* Understanding of pedagogy, best practice and research-informed teaching and learning strategies for young people with autism.
* Knowledge and experience of school improvement and change management.
* Experience of undertaking effective self-evaluation strategies, including data analysis, lesson observation, scrutiny of students’ work and stakeholder consultation.
* Proven track record of improving teacher performance through performance management, classroom observation, coaching and training.
* Ability to plan and lead on a school improvement plan and school development plan.
* Commitment to inclusive education providing opportunity for achievement for all.
