We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a passionate, London-based organisation dedicated to transforming fuel sustainability. The company aims to make synthetic fuels more accessible than fossil fuels reducing the carbon impact of global fuelling within heavy industry. With great funding leading to team growth, they’re expanding their engineering and support teams moving towards commercialisation. In this role you will be vital in helping to speed up development of the three aspects of the engineering products. What you'll be doing:
Designing and constructing testing infrastructure at progressively larger scales, ranging from 10 kW to 1 MW and beyond.
Accelerate performance and longevity testing across all three systems - electrolyser, Direct-air-capture, and reactor.
Design and implement thermal and fluid management solutions to integrate balance-of-plant operations, maximize heat recovery, and enhance integration across the renewable natural gas (RNG) system, all while ensuring low-cost and robust flow control.
Taking responsibility for creating control systems to optimize plant productivity under varying solar inputs, enhance H2 and CO2 production to maximize CH4 production rates, and enable fully autonomous and reliable operation.
What experience you will need to apply:
At least three years of professional experience and a Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience in designing and constructing chemical reactors, direct-air-capture systems, or electrolysers (or similar technologies) is essential.
