A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a new full time consultant appointment in response to demand. The successful applicant would join a team of 14 Ophthalmologists.
This post is designed to combine service delivery with high quality training in general ophthalmology with an interest in medical ophthalmology.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

The appointee will be expected to manage Medical retinal and uveitis patients, clinics will be a mix of face-to-face and virtual reviews. NNUH is an acute trust and the appointee will also be involved in the management of presentations to their service requiring urgent care. The MR team see around 1000 patient per month with 99% of these appointments being undertaken face to face, they also undertake MR injection clinics with an average 680 attendances per month. Our current clinic templates are based on new and follow up appointments. Typically, the appointee would be expected to see 4-6 new patients and 8-9 follow-up patients per face-to-face clinic in addition to supervising other doctors, optometrists and specialist nurses and undertake MR review clinics with an average template of 27 follow up patients.
The uveitis service currently has capacity to see around 70 patients per month based on 2 new & 6 follow up appointments per week.
The theatre lists undertaken in ophthalmic theatres will be local anaesthetic cataract lists with the aim to see 8 or more patients per list, depending on complexity.
