Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Leeds. This role is based on-site, which is accessible by public transport and has free parking available.
There will be a need to work 1 in 3 weekends but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary). There is also an on-call rota, which is paid separately.
At Amey, we're supporting our justice client, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
The Electrician plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. Start and finish times are Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday to Sunday 08:00 - 16:00.
You will be responsible for:
* Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
* Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
* Responding to breakdowns ensuring all works are carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
* Actively fault finding / problem solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
* Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with the design provided and IET Wiring Regulations.
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with the current IEE wiring regulations.
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services.
* Other tasks as required by the Site.
* This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
* Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What makes this role unique is you will test and inspect electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th IEE wiring regulations as amended from time to time. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
We want to hear from you if you have/are:
* Appropriate technical qualification eg ECS Gold card graded Installation or Maintenance Electrician, City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, Full NVQ level 3 or above Installation or Maintenance Electrician all with AM2.
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition.
* Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing.
* Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
* Capable of working at heights.
* Ability to work alone and use initiative.
