Permanent Position We are currently looking to recruit a Die Caster to join an exciting team in a well-established business based Bury St Edmunds Pay rate: £12.50 Overtime Hours of work are 05:30 to 14.30 Monday to Thursday with plenty of overtime available when fully trained. One of our clients is a well-established organisation, built in 1959 and relocated to a purpose-built foundry in 1968, has over 50 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality aluminium alloy castings. It specialise in Gravity Die and Air Set sand moulding processes, producing more than 800 tonnes of castings annually. The company adheres to stringent quality policies aimed at exceeding client expectations. With a commitment to continuous improvement, the organisation engages a skilled workforce throughout all production stages, blending traditional foundry techniques with modern practices and technology. Many of its castings must meet very high integrity standards, particularly for safety-critical components in industries such as petrochemical, gas, oil, and mining. Inspection methods like X-ray and dye penetrant detection are utilised to ensure zero defects in these products. Role Specific · Operate the foundry die casting furnaces to heat aluminium ingots. · Measure and maintain temperature of the furnaces. · Treat molten aluminium through addition of additives and flux. · Inspect die tooling for suitability for manufacture, cleaning and preparing as required. · Heat required die tooling to required temperatures prior to manufacture. · Transfer molten metal into pre-prepared die tooling through use of hand held ladles. · Use site batch card system to track specific job requirements, (pouring temperatures, pour speeds, etc), and to book off quantities of castings manufactured. · Carry out tasks as assigned by the Foundry Supervisor and Operations Manager. · Maintain adherence to the production schedule. · Ensure manufacturing activities are carried out in a safe and compliant manner. · Mentor new operators on production tasks, as required. · Continuously ensure good working order of all tools, equipment, patterns, lighting, and premises. · Responsible for ensuring all correct PPE is used for each relevant task. · Maintain and ensure good housekeeping and organisation of the working areas. · Escalate any concerns or queries directly to the Foundry Supervisor, Operations Manager, or site management team. · Participate in any quality investigations resulting from non-conforming product or processes.
