We have an exciting opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to take forward the design side of our client’s business. You will run and coordinate all aspects of designs and drawings. The designs are currently carried out by a long standing specilaised design consultant, who will want to retire in a few years. The CAD and 3D works are outsourced to ensure full capacity capability of the company.
Glu Recruit are seeking an experienced, ambitious, and efficient Civil Design Engineering Manager to manage 2d and 3d drawings, from design brief to customer acceptance via the outsourced supply team for our client based in Rotherham. The successful candidate will be the technical design coordinator and creator in their fast-paced and varied design area, ensuring design correctness from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
5. Generate all aspects of project and production technical drawings for steel and concrete tanks, bases and roofs in 2D and 3D where required, from brief to approval.
6. Coordinate drawings and designs, between our client, suppliers and clients to achieve approvals on time.
The successful candidate:
7. Degree qualified Civil Engineer with strong experience track record.
8. Proficiency in designing at least one of the sub-fields of Civil Engineering with an excellent knowledge of the applicable codes and guidance of that sub-field (examples of sub-fields: Surface Water, Foul Water, Reinforced Concrete Structures, – Utility Design, and Coordination).
9. 2D and 3D drawing CAD skills (AutoCAD and other 3D packages such as Inventor etc) and proficiency.
10. Experience in design delivery, including coordinating with other disciplines in multidisciplinary design.
11. Experience leading a design team.
12. Engineer with sound problem-solving skills, and a pragmatic, practical mind.
13. Take accountability and responsibility for work carried out by the individual or the team.
14. Work well with and form relationships with others, including the client team, other disciplines, and contractors at all levels (junior – senior) inside and outside the business.
15. Be self-motivated to produce high-quality deliverables.
16. Experience working with and negotiating with key project stakeholders including regulatory, statutory, and local bodies.
17. Produce designs following CDM regulations.
18. Excel and Word computer skills to a good business level. Microsoft Project preferred.
19. Specific design software such as STAAD or similar a real bonus.
20. Strong communication skills, independent working, presenting, and influencing skills.
