We’re on the hunt for a Claims Handler to join us and play a key role in shaping the future of Navigators & General. The N&G Claims team takes pride in providing outstanding Claims Services for our insurer partners, with great work ethics and customer focused delivery. What you will do as a Claims Handler: This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Manage a caseload of first and third-party marine Claims for pleasure craft (inland waters, inshore and offshore) and marine commercial properties. Set up New Claims on the correct Claims system and allocated to the correct insurer. Maintain Claims files with accurate and complete data at all times. Validate Policyholder, Premium paid, Period of time and Policy Terms in accepting or repudiating Claims. Ensure that Schedules of Insurance are checked to identify Policy Excesses, Endorsements and Exclusions. Set and manage Reserves proactively and in accordance with the Geo Claims Manual or insurance Binder. Being mindful of potential fraudulent activity, completing appropriate fraud checks and escalating accordingly. Identify recovery opportunities and instigate appropriate recovery process where required. Settle Claims in the correct amount, net of policy excess, under Delegated Authority as swiftly and efficiently as possible. Proactively communicate with brokers, customers, insurers, third party claimants and other relevant parties. Comply with operational SLAs relating to telephony, post, creating new Claims and payment of Claims settlements. Comply with relevant Binder contractual terms to include, amongst others, authority limits, referral triggers, reserving principles and complaints processes. Comply with Consumer Duty requirements and identify Vulnerable Customers, ensuring such Claims are managed appropriately. What are we looking for in our next Claims Handler: Experience of working in a Claims Handling role or similar. Demonstrable success in handling a portfolio of marine, liability, and property-related claims. Understanding of general insurance principles, practices, and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Experience of using a Claims Handling or PAS system. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with all stakeholders.
