We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant – SEMH to support children with social, emotional, and mental health challenges in a primary school setting in Southend. You will work closely with the school's SEND team and classroom teachers, providing individualised support to ensure that pupils with additional needs are fully included in classroom learning and social activities.
This is a full-time role, offering a temporary-to-permanent contract for the right candidate. You will have the opportunity to positively influence students' learning and social skills in an inclusive and supportive environment. While experience is desirable, it is not essential, as the school is keen to support those with a passion for working with children.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support pupils with SEMH needs, both in small groups and 1:1.
* Assist teachers in creating strategies to help students overcome challenges.
* Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the SEND team.
* Engage students in social and emotional development activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
* GCSE Maths and English Grades A-C (or equivalent).
* Previous experience with SEMH pupils is desirable but not essential.
* Strong communication skills and a calm, patient approach.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
