We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant cum Payroll Administrator to join our team in Canary Wharf. This dual-role position blends hands-on accounting duties with end-to-end payroll administration for our portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors. Key Responsibilities Accounting Responsibilities: Prepare working papers, annual accounts, and statutory accounts (FRS 105 & FRS 102A) for sole traders, SMEs, partnerships, and limited companies. Prepare and submit Corporation Tax returns for small companies and assist with personal tax computations. Manage bookkeeping and process journals for clients. Review and submit VAT returns under MTD regulations. Assist with finalising accounts and VAT returns for sole traders, companies, and partnerships. Support client billing processes and maintain up-to-date financial records. Liaise with HMRC and handle AMLS compliance requirements. Collaborate with the accounts team and share technical knowledge to support team development. Payroll Responsibilities: Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients. Manage PAYE, NIC, pensions, holiday pay, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP). Administer auto-enrolment pension schemes and contributions. Handle starters, leavers, P45s, P60s, and P11Ds. Ensure timely RTI submissions and compliance with HMRC payroll regulations. Prepare payroll reports and address client queries. Ideal Candidate Profile ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or part-qualified with at least 3–5 years of experience in an accountancy practice. At least 2 years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy firm or bureau. Proficient in accounting and payroll software such as VT, Xero, Sage Payroll, BrightPay, Payroll Manager, and MS Excel. Strong understanding of UK accounting principles, tax regulations, and payroll legislation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong client-service orientation.
