A Strategic Compliance Manager Position at Metro Supply Chain

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Manager to lead our repair centre, compliance, environmental, and quality initiatives. This role will play a critical part in ensuring we maintain high standards across all sites.
Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation of accreditation and compliance standards across all sites.
* Develop and implement effective compliance management best practices.
* Liaise with site and general managers to ensure compliance standards are met.
* Embed best practices to maintain compliance across all sites.
* Ensure operation within current legislation.
* Produce regular reports and statistics.
* Foster high levels of communication and engagement with team members.
* Introduce required training for compliance and coordinate training efforts.
* Maintain up-to-date training records and reports.
* Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
* Report any lapses from legislation or compliance regulations.
* Meet with contractors, suppliers, and approved organizations.
* Stay updated on industry knowledge (e.g., ISO, industry journals).
* Develop and manage operations aligned with customer and company objectives.
* Understand customer issues and drive business improvements.
* Recruit, train, develop, and motivate staff within job frameworks.
* Provide technical advice across all areas of the business.
* Work with other managers to complete facility checks.
* Ensure HR processes and procedures are followed.
* Identify and mitigate business risks.
* Maintain regular updates with the site General Manager.
* Build relationships with customers and Metro Supply Chain.
* Safety Management:
To ensure Health & Safety management Best Practices are applied, investigations and corrective actions are applied rigorously.
Consistently meets or exceeds daily operations KPIs for pick accuracy, quality, damages, and safety.
Positively influences performance of others to achieve team operational KPIs.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience within a logistics environment or similar.
* Experience managing external relationships with enforcement authorities and external agencies/organizations.
* Accreditation submissions, approval, and ongoing management – ISO.
* 2 years of auditing experience.
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 & 14001.
* Experienced in Warehouse Management Systems.
* Previous people management skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Structured, well-organized, and self-motivated.
* Prepared to travel to other Metro sites and business travel UK wide.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Change management skills and leading multi-site business projects.
* Highly numerate and literate with excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft platform.
* Demonstrates good coaching, influencing, and presentation skills.
* Quality Management Systems Certification.
