Leeds City College is looking for an English & Maths Trainer to join our Foundation Studies department.
Foundation Studies is a discrete element of the curriculum within Luminate Education Group. The department provides bespoke learning for students who are identified as SEND and High Needs, aged 16-25.
We take a student-centred approach to delivery to ensure students make the best possible progress towards EHCP outcomes, personal targets, and the development of English and maths. We provide a welcoming and supportive environment to support learners through pathways such as Work Skills, Life Skills, Supported Internships, preparing them for adulthood.
Foundation Studies offers English and maths at various levels to match all learners' literacy and numeracy stages, including opportunities for Functional Skills or GCSE qualifications.
What You Will Do
* Plan and prepare teaching and learning resources, including online learning resources for Non-accredited Maths & English.
* Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and vocational area.
* Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills for progression.
* Reflect on effective teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs.
* Facilitate inspiring sessions across the curriculum using various teaching methods.
* Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and record progress.
* Implement positive interventions when needed for students undertaking identified modules.
* Develop and strengthen relationships with learners and provide support for successful outcomes.
About You
* Educated to at least NVQ3 or equivalent.
* English and Mathematics at Level 2 or above, or willingness to improve to Level 3 in one or both disciplines.
* Experience working with SEND students.
* Good knowledge of facilitating literacy and numeracy delivery.
* Understanding of job preparation processes and strategies to support SEND students in Maths and English.
* Strong ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents, and carers.
* Able to work collaboratively in a team, sharing responsibilities.
* Able to work towards EHCP outcomes and in line with the RARPA model of delivery.
