We are seeking dual diagnosis practitioners to provide additional clinical and leadership capability to our community mental health teams. The post holder will be able to provide specialist assessments and evidence-based interventions as well as enabling adoption of the Trust's Co-occurring Substance Use and Mental Health (COSUMH) Conditions Strategy.
Practitioners will support and implement changes to practice; build relationships with other organisations and professionals to promote communication, joint working, and good practice; undertake audit activity and supervision to other staff. Practitioners will have Subject Matter Expertise with Train the Trainer ability to disseminate bio-psychosocial interventions including Motivational Interviewing. The post holder will ensure that high standards of assessment and treatment are provided to people with co-existing mental health and substance misuse problems, based on the best available evidence. The post holder will provide education, training, support, and coaching to all colleagues working in this area in line with Making Every Adult Matter principles.
Main duties of the job
Clinical practice
1. To improve the quality of assessments and treatments for people with both mental health and substance misuse issues.
2. To have experience in and specialist knowledge of evidence-based interventions and lead on their dissemination across clinical areas.
3. To establish professional relationships with other system partners and professionals to shape better care.
Practice Development
1. To provide specialist training and advice to other professionals and agencies.
2. To clinically supervise other members of the team.
3. To facilitate area communities of practice to promote skills sharing, reciprocity, and clinical network development.
Research and Development
1. To develop teaching and training sessions for staff and professionals on specialist subject area.
2. To develop joint working protocols and pathways and contribute to continuous service improvement.
3. To undertake research, service evaluation, and clinical audit and participate in clinical quality and governance forums as required.
Leadership and management
1. To provide effective leadership and supportive management which promotes high performance standards both individually and as a team. The Trust's success is dependent on the contributions of all and leaders will need to understand the Trust's priorities and those of our external partners and translate these into opportunities to improve outcomes for the populations we serve.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Core Training (OT, Nursing, Social Work) with current registration appropriate to the job role.
* Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group.
* Evidence of post-registration training in relevant service area.
* Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent if relevant.
Knowledge/Experience
* Extensive post-qualifying experience in relevant service area.
* Experience of supervising staff and students.
* Able to manage a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs.
* Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area.
* Aware of Trust policies and service specification.
