Today, we position ourselves as a global leader in premium professional sound.
L-Acoustics aims to connect humans through the best shared sound experiences. We are the industry leaders in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of premium sound reinforcement technologies. Our mission is to shape the future of sound with technologies that enable audio professionals and artists to elevate the listener experience.
About L-ISA & Ambiance
L‑ISA technology enables artists to create and deliver immersive sound for live and recorded productions of any scale. This comprehensive ecosystem of audio tools provides a natural and vivid experience that heightens emotion and invites the listener inside the music. Ambiance, the active acoustics solution from L-Acoustics, transforms one acoustic space into another, inviting performers and audiences together into an enhanced setting for acoustic and amplified performances.
Role Description
As part of the acoustics and immersive spaces research team, you will research new audio algorithms at the intersection of the musical source, the sound system, and the acoustic space. Starting from the state of the art, we will push further to reach powerful and robust solutions adapted to the needs of content creators, acousticians, and audiences. A typical day could involve prototyping a new algorithm for active acoustics or large-scale immersive sound reinforcement, validating algorithms and workflows for audio system calibration and tuning, or running listening tests. Your work will be refined, validated, documented, and sometimes published externally (AES, ASA, IOA, etc.).
Responsibilities:
* Research state of the art in virtual acoustics and spatial audio
* Propose, implement and test algorithms for active acoustics, including listening tests
* Develop and test new tools to enhance acoustic calibration workflows
* Build prototypes & demonstrators to showcase new algorithms and workflows
* Support the software team by specifying and testing new algorithms
* Collaborate with other research teams on overlapping subjects
* Regularly communicate with stakeholders across the organization
Required Qualifications:
* Experience in designing and implementing signal processing algorithms applied to audio and/or acoustics
* Practical experience with audio systems and acoustic measurements
* Proficient in programming for audio prototyping (e.g., MATLAB / Python)
* Technical knowledge in one or more of: room acoustics, psychoacoustics, spatial audio (binaural, VBAP, etc.)
* Critical listening skills
* Strong communication and teamwork
* Fluent in English
* Experience writing minutes, reports, and specifications
* Master's degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering/signal processing
Preferred Qualifications:
* Passion for audio
* Experience with Cycling ’74 Max
* Scientific publications
* PhD degree or equivalent industry research experience
Location: London, UK (hybrid: 3 days a week in office, plus occasional travels)
