I am currently looking for a motivated & career driven Optometrist to join this highly skilled team in this well-respected Specialist Eye Clinic based in York, they have been delivering the best patient care transforming the quality of people’s vision for over 15 years. You’ll be working around some of the best Ophthalmologists in the industry.
We are seeking someone that is enthusiastic and passionate with a can-do attitude, someone that is strongly interested in developing themselves, working in a hospital environment with an interest in Cataract with a patient-first mentality. You will have great patient interaction and care, and you will be career-driven & a motivated individual.
This exciting new opportunity to join this growing & developing business working with a highly skilled, diverse, welcoming team has arisen due to Maternity Leave. You will have access to state-of-the-art technologies, attending to private and NHS referred patients. Although this role is predominantly focused on Cataract, training can be provided for the right candidate.
This is a 1-year Fixed Term Contract, with the ability to stay on following the year due to Hospital expansion or working in other local sites. You are able to Locum on the side of this role if you wish.

Requirements
* GOC Registered.
* Minimum 18 Months Post Registration Experience in the UK
* IP Qualification (Must Have)
* Experience working in a clinical or hospital setting
* Experience within refraction
* Experience of using patient administration systems and electronic medical record systems
* Cataract Experience (Desirable) Can Provide Training
Responsibilities
* Carry out examinations that are associated with cataract surgery.
* Run acute and follow-up clinics post-surgery for patients documenting findings in the electronic medical record systems.
* Provide health advice and support to patients attending the hospital.
* Provide first line clinical advice to patients and follow the appropriate means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary.
* Ensure awareness of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment within the clinical competency framework.
* Ensure awareness of CQC policies and updates, attending all mandatory update courses.
* Help to control cross-infection by enforcing Hospital policy regarding Uniform Policy, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures.
* Follow correct procedures for documenting and reporting any accident or incident.
* Proactively identify ways to improve processes and service to ensure a streamlined, efficient and high-quality service is offered to patients.
* Build relationships with patients during their consultation to ensure that their individual needs are understood and that this is matched to the most suitable treatment solution.
* Proactively provide explanations to patients around treatment and ensure all patient questions are answered fully.
* Responsible for achieving set conversion rates from consultation to booking of treatment.
* Ensure compliance with relevant pre-authorisation processes and collection of surgery deposits.
* Vision Correction.
* Travel to hospital sites as required for training or meetings.
