The Role The Chemistry Analyst is responsible for running their assigned method in order to ensure the timely processing of client’s samples, whilst adhering to Alpha Scientific ISO 17025 accreditation and H&S policies for the department. Running their assigned method, whilst showing an understanding of the technical requirements of the methods in which they are trained. Performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations and meet client specific turn round times. Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses Entering data into LIMS and using LIMS to prioritise their own daily workload Working hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday 8:30am-5pm Working style: Fully onsite in Sittingbourne. Responsibilities Inclusion in the lab rota for collection of samples from the Sittingbourne Post Office. Unpacking and sorting of daily samples for analysis. Calibrating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation. Carrying out test procedures on samples using ICP-OES, Gallery Plus, filtration and others. Entering daily QC data. Keeping up with laboratory check sheet tasks including weekly and monthly checks. Production testing and release Preparation and checking of standards and QCs. Disposal of old samples. Upkeep of personal training records. Commitment to continuous improvement through adherence to ISO 17025 quality systems. Work well within a team to achieve regular laboratory goals. Excellent communication in and between teams. Have a methodical approach with accuracy, high attention to detail and minimal errors. Maintain high computer literacy including MS Excel, Word and databases. Organise and prioritise workload with flexibility to respond positively to changing demands. Keeping neat and tidy working areas and practices. The Person Degree or equivalent experience in a science; preferably in chemistry Excellent communication skills Ability to work in a methodical, organised way and to maintain a professional attitude under pressure Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages specifically Excel.
