Towcester Museum is staffed and managed entirely by volunteers and they are essential for the future sustainability of the museum. In 2015 the museum were awarded "Best Volunteer Project" by the Northamptonshire Heritage Forum. A NEW volunteer pack complete with training, 10% discount in the shop, a badge, volunteer meetings and a monthly e-newsletter being introduced.
The museum assistants are essential to the efficient operation of the museum; they are enthusiastic, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. Joining the team would give you the opportunity to make new friends, gain experience, get involved in museum projects and learn more about Towcester's history.
Each role is tailored to the interests of the individual. You can help with school visits, guided tours or exhibition design. Alternatively, you can just help in the visitor reception area dealing with customer enquiries. You decide how much you want to be involved.
It is expected that volunteers be able to commit to at least one 3-hour shift a week (10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm, Tuesday-Saturday).
