We are looking for a Band 6 exercise physiologist who is ready for new challenges or an experienced Band 5 who is seeking promotional opportunities to join our Prehabilitation team. The successful post holder will hold a key role in the on-going development and running of a multidisciplinary prehabilitation service.The post-holder will support the team leads to deliver a trust-wide service that will not only reduce complications from hospital treatment but aim to improve patients' long-term health as they adopt lifestyle changes. The post-holder will also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary teams across sites including anaesthetists, surgeons, Oncologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists and wider therapy teams. The successful candidate should be a dedicated, skilled and motivated clinician with a breadth of experience in exercise prescription across a range of chronic health conditions. Main duties of the job This a new post within an established Prehabilitation team, working as an MDT service including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and dietetics, as well as more junior clinical exercise physiologists. It is an ideal opportunity for an experienced clinical exercise physiologist looking to develop clinical and leadership skills They will be responsible for supporting and developing this innovative service across Barts Health. The post-holder will be expected to: To identify appropriate patients to enrol in the service and engage key stakeholders in the both the service and referral process To complete holistic pre-treatment assessments for complex patients and liaise with the other members of the prehabilitation team, the referring team and wider appropriate clinical teams to ensure patients are optimised for treatment Provide personalised, evidence-based, high quality exercise intervention and appropriate nutritional/psychological input following comprehensive risk assessment To utilise cardioplulmonary exercise testing to further clinically reason fitness for potential treatment and confidently relay results to the wider MDT when making decisions regarding patient care Use motivational interviewing and health-coaching techniques to support complex patients in goal setting, identify and overcome barriers and help people in making long-term health and lifestyle changes About us Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain's leading healthcare providers.
