Field Service Engineer
Location: Manchester / Bristol / North London / Sheffield
Salary: c£45k - £50k neg dep exp + vehicle + benefits
Our client is a leading developer and asset manager of utility scale energy storage solutions. Due to continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth as the UK strives to achieve net zero emission levels, they are seeking to recruit multiple skilled field service engineer professionals.
The successful candidates will undertake PPM and reactive breakdown repair and commissioning activities on a range of energy storage units at BESS sites throughout the UK.
Responsibilities:
1. Fault finding, diagnosis, and repair duties.
2. Perform PPM and continuous improvement exercises on equipment.
3. Maintain Energy Storage Systems through regular inspection and maintenance.
4. Perform annual capacity tests, troubleshooting, and reactive maintenance.
5. Implement system software and firmware upgrades as required.
6. Monitor operation performance and assess data.
7. Provide telephone technical support and remote diagnostics to customers.
8. Attend BESS sites for repairs when remote diagnostics fail.
9. Manage spare parts and vehicle inventory.
10. Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and standards (e.g., BS7671).
11. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures.
12. Maintain administrative duties such as timesheets and job reports.
13. Assist with product development and project work.
14. Provide suggestions based on field experience to improve the product portfolio.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be qualified to at least C&G2391 Inspection and Test / HNC level or above in a relevant electrical / electro-mechanical discipline and have at least 3 years' experience in a multi-skilled maintenance or service capacity. Good IT skills (MS Suite) and understanding of networking and remote desktop connections are essential. A full UK driving licence is required, and qualifications for working safely on site are necessary.
Previous knowledge and experience of working on BESS sites is advantageous, as is a working knowledge of HV/LV power electronics (including inverters/converters/transformers) and HVAC training with F-Gas qualifications (training can be provided).
