Job Title: Fabric Engineer (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract)
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Are you an experienced Fabric Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real impact? We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team on the Stoke Schools PFI Contract for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is your chance to work across 88 sites in Stoke-on-Trent, carrying out essential fabric maintenance and repairs, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planned Maintenance: Carry out planned maintenance on fabric assets in line with contract specifications and industry best practices, including windows, fire doors, ironmongery, roofing, and more.
2. Reactive Maintenance: Perform minor repairs, including door/window furniture, joinery, painting & decorating, flooring, and ceiling repairs, adhering to contractual SLAs.
3. Minor Works: Undertake installation and minor fabric works in accordance with trade qualifications.
4. Health & Safety: Complete risk assessments, follow Safe Systems of Working (SSOW), and always work in a safe manner.
5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Stoke Schools engineering team, supporting other disciplines and providing lifecycle & defect reports.
6. Customer Communication: Proactively liaise with site staff to ensure smooth operations, and provide regular updates to the helpdesk on work order progress.
7. On-Call Support: Be part of an on-call rota for emergency repairs on the estate.
What We’re Looking For:
1. A formal apprenticeship in a relevant City & Guilds trade (fabric/maintenance).
2. Proven experience in building fabric repairs and maintenance.
3. Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk assessments.
4. A full, clean driving license is essential.
5. Enhanced DBS clearance (subject to job offer).
