Job Title: CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner - Barking & Dagenham
Location: Barking & Dagenham CAMHS
Pay Rate: £30.00 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Contract Length: 3 months (with potential for extension)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner to manage a caseload of children and young people (CYP) within the Barking & Dagenham CAMHS team. This role involves providing evidence-based treatment in line with NICE Guidelines and maintaining thorough care plans and risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage a caseload of CYP, conducting clinical reviews and harm assessments for cases with no contact for over six months.
2. Develop and maintain up-to-date, co-produced SMART care plans and risk assessments.
3. Conduct mental health assessments, risk assessments, and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
4. Coordinate care proactively with CYP, carers, and external agencies involved in the child's treatment.
5. Attend professional meetings, including Child in Need (CIN) meetings and safeguarding reviews.
6. Support the team by handling duty responsibilities, supervising trainees, and assisting with audits and Quality Improvement (QI) projects.
7. Offer support and guidance by deputising in the absence of senior staff or the line manager.
8. Recognise and address safeguarding concerns, ensuring proper referral pathways are followed.
Requirements:
1. NMC-registered Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or any other relevant Allied Health Professional (AHP) qualification.
2. Previous experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
3. Proven skills in caseload management, mental health assessments, and risk management.
4. Strong interpersonal and listening skills with a team-focused approach.
5. Ability to offer supervision, manage complaints, and respond effectively to safeguarding risks.
Desirable Skills:
1. Experience in mentorship and supporting trainees.
2. Knowledge of service improvement practices, audits, and QI projects.
3. Previous experience working with multi-agency partnerships.
